Our Purpose

The purpose of Stuart Heights Baptist Church is to glorify, know and enjoy God, so that we can make Him known with our words and our works.

The Great Commandment
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Mathew 22:36-40

The Great Commission
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Mathew 28:19-20

The Church is the Bride of Christ
For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:2

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. Ephesians 5:25-27

"Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Revelation 19:7-8

As the bride of Christ (the church) there are some responsibilities. We have used an acrostic, WIFE'S, to help remember the five puposes of our church.

The wife's responsibilities:

Worship: You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind

Instruction: Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you

Fellowship: Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

Evangelism: Go therefore and make disciples

Service: You shall love your neighbor as yourself
