Music Ministry

We do not draw on any one particular style as a resource for our music selections, but sensitivity to the message, combined with the receptivity of the congregation, usually guide our song choices. Our Sunday morning congregational worship at the 10:00 am and 11:00 am services are contemporary and celebratory in nature, with congregational participation planned and highly encouraged. The 9:00 am service is traditional in nature.

Our purpose is to lift the name of the Lord in our praises, resulting in our fellowship with Him and with each other as we corporately and individually offer ourselves to Him for His purpose. We welcome fellow worshippers.

The seasonal worship choir begins rehearsals in August and continues through the fall in preparation for a Christmas program. After the Christmas program, the choir takes a break until February, when it resumes rehearsals to prepare for an Easter program. After our annual Easter program, the choir will be on break throughout the summer months until rehearsals resume in August.

The seasonal worship choir will occasionally participate in the Sunday morning worship services at the Chattanooga, Hixson, and Soddy Daisy Campuses at 10:00 am and 11:00 am.

The Traditions Choir rehearses on Sundays at 8:15 am in the Chattanoga Campus sanctuary. The Traditions Choir sings at the 9:00 am traditional worship service each Sunday following the rehearsal. New singers are always welcome into this group.

Teens are encouraged to participate in the SHBC Youth choir which meets for practice on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm at the Hixson Campus. The Youth choir regularly sings in our worship services. They also participate in area workshops with other churches.

Children ages Pre-K through 5th grade are encouraged to participate in our Children Choir programs. They also meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm -7:00 pm at the Hixson Campus.
